CCTV is an enhancement to other security systems currently offered and may be used in a variety of security applications. Camera equipment can vary widely in scope and cost due to differences in the application, cameras and cabling. FSUPD CASS and FSUPD Crime Prevention Unit are responsible for the design of CCTV applications and facilitates the acquisition of estimates on behalf of the department with Information Technology Services Network Deployment (ITSND).
ITSND is responsible for ordering, installing and maintaining CCTV equipment. Upon request of a department, FSUPD CASS and FSUPD Crime Prevention conduct a security review of an area and advise departments on appropriate security equipment measures, if any. If the determination is made that there is a security need for closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance, FSUPD CASS will provide an ITSND estimate to the department for one-time equipment and labor charges, as well as an estimate for monthly recurring charges.
One-time charges include costs for cameras, cable, miscellaneous connection, mounting materials and labor to connect to the University Enterprise Video Network. Departments pay a monthly charge (per camera) for the following features and benefits:
- Connecting to the network
- Web access to live and archived video
- Digital video storage of the immediate past 30 days
- Control of pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) equipment, if installed
- CD/DVD download services when requested and approved by the FSUPD
CCTV is NOT monitored by either FSUPD or ITS. Images are captured digitally and can be retrieved if and when necessary. Should a Law Enforcement situation unfold on campus these cameras are available for officers to monitor during that event.
CCTV systems are connected to the University Enterprise Video Network. Departments deploying CCTV are given access to view live and archived video through a web browser application. Recurring monthly billing for CCTV is provided through Information Technology Services (ITS).
